Violence against women is far from over in 2020, certainly, various feminist movements around the world such as #MeToo and #NiUnaMenos have allowed a safe space and encouraged women of all ages and social backgrounds to come forward and break the silence about the abuse they've endured or keep enduring.

It is a bittersweet relief, women are growing stronger and fearless to tell their stories, often stigmatized by a society that more often than not would blame the victim of the abuse and not the victor.

I can confidently say that I have been a feminist since I was a little kid without knowing exactly what a feminist was, all I knew it was not well perceived to be called a "feminist" in Latin America, in my ignorance I'd believe I was just "rebellious" for not wanting to fit in the Latinamerican female stereotype. As I grew older I understood there were words and terms for what I believed and felt back then. Being an immigrant woman of color in Germany taught me much more than I could ever imagine and I grew stronger both spiritually, physically and emotionally. Little did I know I'd spent my last years in Europe in an emotionally abusive relationship despite all I've experienced and learned. Abusers come in all sizes, colors, shapes, moral cover-ups, you name it.

To sum up this project, I wanted to raise awareness about emotional abuse, more specific "Covert Narcissistic Abuse" by displaying the common terminology in this cycle of abuse not only to inform but also as a way to validate the experience of those who have come forward and those who are too afraid to do so.

In 2020, please, believe survivors.
